Unlike conventional 7 Segment displays, MENTOR's solutions are not supplied with integrated LEDs, offering the advantage of being able to select the display colours individually. These single-digit 7 segment displays can be joined in continuous rows for any sequence of numbers.
The customer’s end-product assembly process consists of two actions: firstly mounting the SMD ChipLEDs onto the PCB, then assembling the 7 Segment display body over the LEDs. This results in considerable time savings during automated assembly, lowering production costs. Low-current LEDs can be used if needed for the application.
Traditional 7 Segment displays are tall and the difference in height between the display and other PCB components has to be overcome using mechanical methods. MENTOR has solved this problem: the height can be adjusted continuously for between 4.5mm and 23.5mm. This "custom height" feature is achieved using an innovative, patented two-part design: firstly an opaque housing incorporating 7 chambers leading to the 7 display segments at the top of the housing, and secondly, transparent optical fibres carrying light to the 7 individual display segments.
In addition to the custom height option above, MENTOR offers a standard range including 7 Segment displays for the three digit sizes 7.62mm, 10.16mm and 14.2mm, with heights of 9.7mm and 12.5mm.

The 7 Segment display is available as standard in two heights: 9.7mm and 12.5mm. The digit sizes are: 7.62mm, 10.16mm and 14.2mm. The RGB display colours can be arranged in any combination. Custom heights: between 4.5mm and 23.5mm max. Contact us!
