MENTOR offer two ranges of standalone miniature light guides designed to be used for keypad status indication, positioned on the PCB independently of the switch. Light guides can be individual or grouped to signal various switch or activation modes or they can function as traditional ON/OFF or Caps Lock indicators. The two ranges are single or quad light guides. Two standard heights are offered, 9.7mm and 12.5mm, complementing the standard heights of other MENTOR keypad components eg pushbutton caps, switches and signal indicators.
These MENTOR single panel-mounted light guides feature planar LED coupling and are available in two diameters: 3.2mm (Product Code 1282.x) and 2mm (1292.x). The counterbore head allows the light guides to be mounted flush within the front panel. Self-coloured versions are available upon request; these allow the suggestion of function, even when the LED is in an off state.
These four-segment indicators feature a spherical signalling surface with a diameter of 2mm. They are designed for use with 0805 ChipLEDs (or smaller LEDs). A black diaphragm mounting keeps the light guide firmly in position and prevents light-bleed between adjacent elements displaying different colours.
